Forty-eight million Americans aged 12+ (17.1%) had substance use disorder in past year. Twenty-two percent of males used drugs in past year versus 17% of females. Men are more than 2x as likely to die from drug overdose than women, with over 96,000 yearly overdose deaths.
Nearly 45% of persons with SUD also experience mental illness. Traditional masculine norms create primary barrier—men view help-seeking as weakness. Over 130 deaths occur daily from opioid overdose. Men with PTSD are 2.97x more likely to engage in drug abuse/dependence.
Many men use alcohol, drugs, or behavioral addictions to manage underlying issues—depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, or pain. It works temporarily, which is why it's so hard to stop. But over time, it becomes the problem.
We take an integrated approach: addressing both the substance use and what's driving it. You can't just stop drinking or using without learning better coping tools.
We're not a 12-step program, though we support those who find value in that approach. We use evidence-based therapies like CBT, motivational interviewing, and harm reduction strategies tailored to where you are.
Some men need to quit entirely. Others need to moderate. Some need medical support. We meet you where you are and help you build a plan that works for your life.
The goal isn't just stopping the behavior—it's building a life where you don't need to escape. That means addressing the underlying pain, developing real coping skills, and creating connections and meaning.
Our men's groups provide built-in accountability and support from others who understand the struggle. Recovery isn't a solo journey.
Address both the substance use and what's driving it.
